A zine design of a mapping project focuses on Ladies Mile in NYC
I collaborated with my classmate Yuki (Instagram: visual.by.yuki). Yuki primarily handled the last two pages of the zine, which focus on the daily life of a girl living in Ladies Mileand the Map section.
Research
Ladies Mile was a street where middle-class women could shop in the 1860s. It marked the first time in America that middle-class women could independently venture out and shop.
While the original Ladies Mile stretched from 14th to 28th Street, we've focused on the section from 14th to 19th Street on the east side of Fifth Avenue due to time constraints.
Reference
The zine's design is inspired by one of the most popular fashion magazines of the 1860s, "Demorest' s Mirror of Fashions".
